2024 IFTA Awards: Liam Carney Nominated for Best Supporting Actor - Film, SUNLIGHT

We’re delighted to announce that Liam Carney has been nominated for Best Supporting Actor - Film, for his role as Ivor in SUNLIGHT (2023, dir. Claire Dix) at the 2024 Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) Awards! Sunlight has screened at film festivals around the world, including Europe, United States, South America, and Australia.

Synopsis:

IVER once brought LEON back from the edge and now Leon is determined to do the same for Iver, only to find that his best friend is being a stubborn bastard. Easy, Leon thinks, nothing a day out in their beloved Dublin won't fix...

Former-addict LEON loves his best friend IVER more than anything else in the world. Iver's the reason he's clean and romping about the place like an ADHD puppy. So when Iver gets a terminal diagnosis and decides to leave this earth early, Leon's not about to let him go without a fight, even if that means being a royal pain in the arse. He forces Iver to agree to one last day in Dublin, hoping to convince him to live. Will he succeed? The outcome knocks them both off course: sometimes things are so wrong, they're right...

Actor Liam Carney was born in County Mayo, Ireland. He is known for Braveheart (1995), The Commitments (1991) and Gangs of New York (2002).
